Heard from a man next to me this evening: “They’d better hurry up and decide who their leader is, I want to watch the origin!”
A leadership spill within the Australian Labor Party resulting in the change of Prime Minister just happened to coincide with Game 2 of the State of Origin NRL match between New South Wales and Queensland. Both were broadcast on the same channel, and the start of the game was almost delayed.
As it happened, New South Wales was defeated in Game 2, meaning they lost the 2013 series, so… perhaps this man may have been happy to wait!
